Zemax 3 - Negative Thicknesses

In review:
Negative edge thickness are bad
Negative air space thicknesses are required for reflective systems (after odd number of mirror bounces)
Negative system focal length can have two meaning:
  1. Diverging wavefront no intermediate images
  2. Converging wavefront with odd intermediate images.
Homework (added after video recorded)
  1. An equi-convex lens with a 10 mm radius of curvature is 2 mm thick and 10 mm in diameter. What is the edge thickness?
  2. What center thickness will make the lens in problem #1 have a 1.5 mm edge thickness?
